In the Old Tent Tonight....

I want to tell you why I am absolutely mesmerized by circus art.  I love the colors and images that appear in circus scenes, photography and stories.  I just think it's all so artistic and beautiful.  I love vintage circus paper (particularly Graphic 45's Le Cirque collection), postcards, and anything else that is related to vintage circus art.  I'm drawn to black and white stripes in my scrap booking, as it reminds me of the tents and scenes I imagined while reading The Night Circus, be Erin Morgenstern, which I wrote about in this post, on my other blog.  That book was truly amazing and I loved being lost in the majestic world that the author created, page after page.  There's just something about an old time circus and imagining all of the enchanting stories behind it.  I also loved the book, Water For Elephants, by Sara Gruen.  The romantic, forbidden love story and the surprise heroin within the book just make me want to quit my job and run away with the circus!

Like I said...I'm just loving vintage circus findings and stories. So, needless to say....I will be working on many circus albums, journals and other fun projects. I think circus themes go way beyond just peanuts and animals.  The art and the stories are so charming....and sometimes even appear to be sad and lonely.  It's all so magical and intriguing to me.

A huge contributing factor in my vintage circus obsession is one of my favorite songs of all time, by my all time favorite musician, Patty Griffin.  The song is called "Trapeze," and she wrote it from the memory of her childhood trips to the circus with her family.  The trapeze girl made a huge impression on her and the song is absolutely beautiful.

She sings, "She started with us on the back of a horse....just seventeen and already divorced.  She took to the air with the greatest of ease....She was born to flying on the old trapeze."
"Some guy broke her heart, and her heart, it did ache, so she went to the tent of the lady of the snakes, who gave her a potion and she drank it in....and after that her heart never ached again...after that, her heart never ached again."

Every time I hear that song...I can't help but imagine the life of a trapeze girl.  My mind explores the romantic and mysterious feel of the circus.  I am just so drawn to it in my crafting and I can't wait to create with all of the gorgeous vintage circus paper I have.  So, "Trapeze" Paper Crafts was inspired, not only by the infamous girl in my favorite song, but by so much more.

A Whole New World of Creativity!

Who doesn't love crafts?  I have been feeling particularly crafty the past 2 months.  It might be the fact that Fall was about to arrive, or it may just be that I was searching and searching for something to bring me peace...and happiness.

Crafting absolutely excites me more than I can even describe.  It's like instant therapy for my soul.  I have always enjoyed doing arts and crafts with my mom and my sisters.  We have been doing craft shows together for several years now and it's, by far, my favorite time of year.  When fall rolls around, there's seriously nothing like it.  The air is so crisp and breezy and the colors turn to vintage oranges and reds.  The smells of cinnamon and pumpkin fill our houses and the warmth of family and friends seem to surround us even closer somehow.  And the best part about fall.....Craft season!

I want this blog to be happy and like a breath of fresh air.  I love to scrapbook and create with paper.  Since I can remember, I have been a collector of pretty paper, stationary and journals.  I have found a whole new world of paper crafting and I'm completely blown away!  I hoard note card sets, notepads and stationary and it was becoming overwhelming to me, but NOW I have so many projects in mind that I can create using all of my paper obsessions!  I didn't know that this level of paper crafts existed until a couple of months ago.  It's not just tags and cards anymore!  It's endless design opportunities, an incredible hobby and an absolutely beautiful art.  Needless to say....I have been learning and creating ever since!

Soon, I will be posting pictures of some of my recent creations. I hope you stop back by on occasion to see what I have in store with my craftiness!  Please subscribe and stay posted for my giveaways, events, announcements and much more!
